Preprint Policy

A preprint is a version of a research paper that precedes formal peer review and publication in a scientific journal. The Journal of Global Smallholder Studies (JGSS) allows authors to submit their preprints to the journal and does not consider this to be duplicate submission or duplicate publication. Authors are encouraged to disclose their preprint with a DOI in the cover letter during the submission process.

Submissions that include preprints will undergo the same rigorous peer review process as regular submissions, ensuring that each article is evaluated by experts in the field for quality and accuracy before being accepted for publication. If a preprint is accepted for publication in the JGSS, authors are encouraged to update the preprint with a link to the published article, enabling the DOI to be included in the final version of the JGSS.

When submitting future works to other journals, authors are strongly recommended to cite the final published article in the JGSS rather than the preprint.
