Plagiarism Policy

At the Journal of Global Smallholder Studies (JGSS), we are committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and originality. To ensure the authenticity of all submitted works, we adhere to a strict plagiarism screening policy.

Authors are required to submit only original works. All submissions must represent the author(s)' own ideas, research, and writing. If authors use the work, ideas, or words of others, they must ensure proper citation and quotation in accordance with the journal's citation style. Direct quotations should be enclosed in quotation marks, with the original source clearly referenced. Paraphrased or summarised material must also be properly attributed to the original source. The submitting author(s) are responsible for ensuring the manuscript's originality and adherence to proper citation practices.

All manuscripts submitted to the JGSS will be screened for plagiarism using advanced plagiarism detection software. The journal participates in the growing community of Similarity Check System users to ensure that our published content is original and trustworthy. This process helps identify potential overlaps with previously published works. If substantial similarity is detected, the manuscript will be returned to the author for revision or it will be rejected, depending on the severity of the issue. If the journal editor suspects that a manuscript is plagiarised or fraudulent, they reserve the right to raise their concerns with the sponsoring institution of the author and other relevant bodies.

We encourage authors to maintain the highest ethical standards when conducting and presenting their research. Unethical practices, such as self-plagiarism or falsification of references, will not be tolerated.

By submitting work to the JGSS, authors acknowledge their commitment to these principles and agree to the use of plagiarism detection tools during the review process.
